Sanskrit Glossary
as defined from the lectures
advaita अद्वैत  = non-dual
asanga असङ्ग = non-stickiness, cannot hold on to anything and nothing can hold onto it
dama दम = control of the senses
dharma धर्म =  good works which generates good karma, good results
gunatita गुणातीत = going beyond mundane attributes (gunas)
jivanmukti जीवन्मुक्ति = emancipation/freedom while living, until karma fully exhausted and body drops
moksha मोक्ष =  attainment of real happiness and permanently overcome suffering
mumukṣutvam मुमुक्षुत्व - desire to be free from samsara
nimittakarana निमित्तकारण = intelligent cause
nishta निष्ठा = staying with it, completion, perfection, steadiness of devotion/attachment to God
nirvikalpa निर्विकल्प = without any object
samadhara समादान = focus, resolve, determination
shama शम = control of the mind
shraddha श्रद्धा = faith towards the teacher and the text
shastra शास्त्र = scripture
sampatti सम्पत्ति = eternal spiritual wealth
tattvajñāna तत्त्वज्ञान - thorough knowledge of truth, knowledge or realization of the nondual reality
tapasya उपादानकारण = austerities
titiksha तितिक्षा = spiritual fortitude
tyaga त्याग  = renunciation
upadhi उपाधि = adjunct, comes near and appears to transfer its properties to something else
upadana karana उपादानकारण = substance, material cause (e.g. clay of pots, gold of ornaments)
uparati उपरति = withdrawal from sensuous enjoyments (or any worldly action)
upasana उपासन = worship
vairagya वैराग्य = dispassion for the non eternal
vedanta वेदान्त  = spiritual teachings of the Upanishads, the final highest teachings of the Vedas
viveka विवेक = discernment between eternal and non-eternal
vikshepa विक्षेप = error, projecting reality as it is not
videhamukti विदेहमुक्ति = liberation from dead body
yatkinch यत्किञ्च = anything, maya as unpredictable mystery, cannot be pinned down or defined as "it is like this", like a ghost it vanishes once you think of it

Darmakshetra धर्मक्षेत्र = our life as the field of Dharma where right and wrong are decided
Madhusudana मधुसूदन = destroyer of attachment to worldly pleasures/sweetness (as like how diabetes need to be controlled before performing the surgical procedure of vichara, dissecting reality through self-inquiry) 
Names / Titles
bashya भाष्य  = original commentary, exposition, explanation, detailed supporting arguments for setting out a full system of philosophy
bashyakara भाष्यकृत्  = commentator
sviddhanam स्विद्धनम्  = any sort of wealth,  money, donation, charity, giving
prayojanam प्रयोजनम = the purpose that gives proper orientation and focus in our study 
varttika वार्त्तिक = a critical commentary to clarify points which remained obscure in the bashya
tika टीका = gloss commentary, to shine the text, to add appearance or presentation
